Here is the real truth.. If you are looking for a sub par education in a hurry that is handed to you with out really working for it and are willing to go in debt for it. This is your school.

If you want to be in a classroom environment that gives you the skills needed to make it in the real world. Stop right here and don't consider this "College". And the people in the front office ar not to be trusted. They will tell you what ever you want to hear to get you to sign up for there extremlly exspensive school. They are on a commision based pay schedule. Most of them dont even have a college degree. So how could they possibly know what works for anyone. I know this because im a current student in my 8th week there. As i was looking into the program of my interest i was told many things that turned out to be straight up lies.

I had been attending a traditional college for the past few years on a part time basis in the lower 48 and was ready to jump in full time and get the degree done.

The main question i asked several was are these classes on campus or online. Since i was taking a Network Security i wanted a on campus school. I was assured that all the technical classes would be on campus with a teacher. I wasnt told that was if they had a teacher for that class. Point 1 they do not employ enough dedicated staff to fulfil there class scheduleing. 4 weeks into my experince their i was alerted that my first introduction class to the security side of my schooling would be online because they had no teacher for the classroom. I went to the administration and voiced my concerne and asked how many of the technical classes would really be online. I was assured in writing that only a couple more would be online possibly. So i decided to push forward aqnd hope they hired staff to teach me after all im paing the $40.000.00 for a degree. Point 2 Classes are rediculously over priced and keep in mind this is a for profit school. Kinda like a used car lot. I did know the cost of the classes before i signed but thought if i could finish my degree in 9 or 10 months with my transferring credits it would be worth it. Point 3 there credit are not the same as a traditional college and will not transfer. Halfway through my second set of classes i get a mass email to all in my upcomeing classes that do to not haveing a teacher they can not offer the next two classes for day students and would i preferr night or weekends. Well i dont have the luxury to switch my work schedule every five weeks to meet their schedule. Keep in mind i signed up for daytime classes do to this reason. I contacted the administation again and was told they have no one to teach day classes and this would possibly be a ongoing issue since the people in the IT field they need to teach their classes already have full time jobs and dont need a part time job teaching for what equate to about 12 dollars a hour before taxes. They Have lost 3 Of the 5 teachers that I've had in the past 8 weeks due to the way they run thing. They have all moved on to better jobs and gave their resignation's. At this point i am tapping out and am going to UAA. . I figure Iwill have to stop working but after looking at the curriculum for UAA. The classes their will give me ten times the skills needed to perform at a job than Charter's would. Iwill have to stop working but after looking at the curriculum for UAA. The classes their will give me 10 times the skills charters classes will give me.

Based on your bad spelling and grammar you need all the help you can get. It's scary you will be going into IT.

I am a current Charter student and was never given false pretenses on what I would be offered. I have also paid out almost the full $40,000 for classes to obtain my Associates in Criminal Justice and I am glad I have. The instructors I have had over the last year have all worked in the field of which I am studying and still do. They have made it very helpful for us to learn what we need to learn by even giving us the opportunity to network and meet other people in the criminal justice field.

I am learning plenty as I am applying myself to. A lot of my classes have been online and yes it's easy to get lazy and not learn anything when you are not in a classroom but that's your choice to not learn anything.

You'll soon see a reply on here encouraging you to contact the school, but you should contact the US Department of Education OIG hotline at 1-800-MIS-USED (1-80*-***-****) and report your experience. The more people who expose the truth about the academic improprieties at this college the more likely the Department will be to take effective action.

The Department would likely be very interested in hearing about the employees being on a commission-based pay scale if you can substantiate that claim.

I know many students and employees from Charter College read these boards. Unless you stand up and report what you know you're just as guilty.

I agree completely. Ever since I've enrolled in charter college in Anchorage Alaska I've been lied to at every turn.

At the beginning of our classes An employee in fact the woman in charge of student success stood up in front of the class and told my class that if they needed help with anything in regards to school to come and talk to them. The main two things that I remember were promised were personal tutoring and gas vouchers yet right after class when me and some other students went down to the student success office I was told two different stories one they weren't allowed to give personal tutoring and two that they were two shorthanded to give personal tutoring. As for those who asked for gas vouchers they were told that their situation wasn't bad enough to receive them. I expressed my concern for tutoring to the head of student success and many times she promised to get back to me but never did.

I asked to express my concerns to the dean and the employees at the front desk refused to tell me where he was or when he would be available to speak with me. Finally overwhelmed and not receiving the help I needed and was promised I was forced to withdraw from my current classes because I could not keep up with school and my fulltime job. And when I withdrew from those classes I was told that I had a six month grace period before I had to pay the full amount of my financial aid back and that if I returned to Charter before that six months was up I would be fine and now I'm getting letters asking for the full amount after two months. Readers from Anchorage do not attend Charter college.

They will not be honest with you, they will not help you, they have no interest in rather or not you succeed at their college and they will lie to you at every turn.

Now I am having second thoughts on going to Charter...interesting that "Brandi" response appears to be autogenerated....perhaps I should seek another avenue.

Hello Sungirl,

We’re disappointed to hear that you’re reconsidering your decision to attend Charter College, but we understand that opting to advance your education and selecting a school is an important and difficult decision. It is understandable to be dismayed by some of the comments on this website and while we do our best to resolve any issues that are brought to our attention we admittedly might not be able to resolve concerns that are not reported through the appropriate channels.

We do encourage you to stop by campus and speak with students, staff, and instructors to learn more about what the Charter College experience is really like. May I ask, which campus you’re thinking about attending?

Also, please feel free to check out Charter College on Facebook and Twitter to learn more about the Charter College community. We look forward to hearing from you!

-Brandi A.,
